Reprise - Not A Day
From the tender young age of eleven at his home church in the city known for home grown musical talent, Detroit, Michigan, Dion mesmerized parishioners with his soulful gospel renditions. He performed in many talent shows, walking away with the first place prize quite often. He was bestowed the honor of lead male vocalist at the church of Apostle Clarence Haddon and Prophetess Joyce Haddon, parents of gospel artist Dietrich Haddon.
In 1988 while visiting a neighboring church, Dion was discovered by Bill Moss of “Bill Moss and the Celestials” who is also the father of renowned gospel artist Pastor J. Moss. He quickly signed Dion to the four-member group, The Bill Moss New Creation Leviticus under the Billesse label (owned by Bill Moss and Missionary Essie Moss). Leviticus recorded a two sided single 45 record featuring “Let Me Lean on You” and “End of Another Day”. These two hits took the group on an extended national tour that culminated with an appearance on the Bobby Jones Gospel Show for a full hour performing with The Celestials.
In 1991 the group was signed to the Atlanta International Records label and recorded the hit album “I’m a New Creation.” Because of their success they were invited to tour with a jazz festival in Europe. The Celestials and Leviticus were the only gospel acts on the tour. This was a great experience that brought major European exposure.
Shortly after the European tour ended, the group dismantled and Dion moved to Kankakee, Illinois where he became a member of the ministry now known as Shabach Global Ministries in Matteson, Illinois. Several years later he was discovered by Apostle Jeremiah Cummings (who sang tenor for “Harold Melvin And The Blue Notes”) at a Pentecostal Out Pouring Convention in Detroit. Jerry Cummings vowed right then and there to record Dion. As time passed, Dion’s pastor (and Jerry’s wife), Dr. Gloria Maria Cummings, continued to nudge her husband to bring his prophetic words to pass. In September 2017 in Kankakee Illinois, Jerry signed Dion to his record label “The Soul Of Philadelphia” and took Dion to Michigan’s famous Studio A to record seven (7) songs and titled the CD "Unstoppable" . Jerry has titled Dion's his sound fittingly "Gospel Soul". Every song on the CD has proven to be a major hit throughout the United States, Europe and Canada.
